Insights & Core Principles

Welcome to our Insights & Core Principles page, where we share clear, helpful advice to support your delivery strategy and goals. At Anchor Strategies, we operate by a handful of core principles.

1.    Your advisor should understand and reflect the market, not try to "make" the market. Attempting to "make" the market manifests itself in several ways. Attempting to match every element (such as individual, unique resource units) of pricing is simply irresponsible. Building up a price from it's compoenents (labor, hardware, software, facilities, profit, etc.) is inherently risky to both the client and the provider as it does not reflect market pricing. Understanding the components of a price and using those components to build a price are two very different things. Advisors who claim they have the knowledge to do this are simply not being truthful. Anchor Strategies is committed to reflecting the market, not making it.

2.    Clients and Service Providers Beware: Your data is being shared much more widely than you probably intend. Some Advisors believe that if they have an NDA with a third-party, they can share your data. A common arguement is that the data is anonymized and not shared individually. This is simply not the case. The fact is that there are no controls in place and the third-party NDA does not provide for controls. Anchor Strategies will clearly spell out how your data will be used and will not share it with third-party partners.

3.    Company investments should (a) Increase Revenues, (b) Reduce Costs, (c) Ensure Compliance; The rest is noise. Effective financial models should reflect these three key elements for any program under consideration. This allows the client to set expectations early and provide a measure for success. Anchor Strategies is well versed in developing models that accurately reflect the program and provide a clear measure of success.

4.    Third-party pricing should be (a) Transparent, (b) Complete, (c) Predictable, (d) Responsive to Demand (e) Decreasing Over Time. Sounds like common sense, right? The principals at Anchor Strategies have seen these principles violated often in large deals, costing the client millions. Most service providers are reasonable and will address pricing issues, particularly in a competitive environment (or threat thereof). Anchor Strategies has been a pioneer in developing pricing models that adhere to these principles and support a sustainable partnership.
